Studio Information and Policies

Most courses run for 8 consecutive weeks unless otherwise noted at registration.

Those enrolled in an 8 week course may visit the studio for additional studio time during any other scheduled class during that session. Priority seating will be given to those enrolled in dedicated space time. Additional open studio hours will be shared once the session begins. Weekend hours will be included.

If Center Ceramics Pottery Studio cancel a course, a full refund will be issued. 

If a class meeting is canceled by Center Ceramics, a make up date will be scheduled.

If a student misses a class, they may attend another scheduled class during that session as a make up.

Requests for a withdrawal or tuition refund for a multi-week course must be made in writing.

Refunds may be issued if requested within 3 weeks of start date, minus a $45 admin fee.

Requests made outside of this timeline may result in a credit (minus $45 admin fee) which may be applied to the next scheduled course. 

Once a course begins, no credits or refunds will be issued. 

Refunds will not be made for one-day events or workshops.

The safety of our students, studio users and staff are a priority.

During winter months, check with us through text or email for class updates prior to traveling. Information about morning classes will be determined by 8:30am, if not earlier. Evening classes will be determined by 4pm if not earlier. Please know that we will gladly reschedule a class if anyone feels uneasy about driving in poor weather.

We value all our students, studio users and staff and aim to keep all safe. 

Please do not attend class or visit the studio if you are sick with a cold, flu or any contagious illness. We will gladly wrap your pots, check your shelf and reschedule a class for you. If you have traveled, we ask that you test for covid before visiting the studio as a courtesy to our mature students and those with compromised immune systems. 

We value the diverse group that visit the pottery studio. This includes multi-cultural, neurodiverse and LBTQ communities and all.  Any person speaking or acting in any disrespectful or harmful way in the studio will be asked to leave. No refunds of any kind will be made. 

If any person feels threatened, bullied or mistreated in any way, please bring this to the attention of the instructor or admin team so that we can handle appropriately. 

"Thou Shall Make NO DUST"

The main hazard in a pottery studio is the inhalation of airborne silica. The most effective way to prevent dust from accumulating is to keep all tools, bags of clay,  floors, counters and workspaces free from clay and glaze drying. Each person in the studio is expected to maintain an excellent level of cleanliness.

Every person using the studio is expected to thoroughly clear all clay and glaze residue from their pottery wheel, and workspace. Each person is responsible for carefully and thoroughly mopping the floor at their workspace, returning bats, wareboards and all tools to the their proper area free from clay and glaze. We provide clear and detailed instructions on how to work safely in the studio.

When in doubt, rinse it out and help out.

Each student will be given shelf space to store projects. Any unsigned pieces left behind 2 weeks after the end of class may be removed. Please keep in good communication for picking up finished projects. 

Any pieces left behind after 30 days will be removed.

Only clay purchased through Center Ceramics Pottery Studio is permitted for use in the studio.

Clay can be purchased at registration: either a full 25lb bag at $40 or 10lbs at $20. The purchase of clay includes the use of bucket glazes, any brush on glazes that may be available and all firings. 

We have over 11 buckets of cone 5/6 glazes. 

Use of appropriate commercial glazes are permitted after approval from studio managers.

We reserve the right to deny any glaze or material brought into the studio.

Center Ceramics grants a limited number of independent studio users per season. Independent studio guests are required to take an 8 week class at our studio or show adequate experience working in a pottery studio and  schedule 1 private lesson. This introductory lesson will serve assess experience level and to familiarize the guest with the studio, policies and staff.
